Is it really free?

Yes, we're not charging subscription fees, but if you use our hosted credit card payments then we will charge customers a 2.5% surcharge and a 2.5% processing fee.

Is this a delivery service like Uber Eats?

No, this will allow you to have an online menu and take orders from customers over the internet. You will need to handle the actual delivery. If you only want to take pick-up orders you can still use this system and disable any mention of delivery.

What if I already have an online credit card facility?

If you have a Windcave (Payment Express) account then you can connect to that instead of our hosted credit card payments option.

I have a merchant account for EFTPOS, can I use that to take online payments?

You need a Windcave (Payment Express) or similar account linked to your merchant account in order to take online payments. You can still take orders without online payments and use your EFTPOS machine when the customer picks-up, or on delivery if you have mobile EFTPOS.

How does the hosted credit card payment option work?

If customers pay using our hosted card facility then payments will go to our merchant account and be paid out to your nominated NZ bank account nightly.

So do I get a website for my customers to order from?

Yes, you get a free [businessname].storefronts.info website that has your online menu and allows customers to place orders.

What if I already have a website or my own domain?

You can connect your own domain to the website, or you can just put a link on your existing website to send customers to the menu site to place orders.

How do I set up my menu?

You will log in to the backend and configure the items available for customers to buy. You can watch an explainer video here

How will I know if an order has been placed?

You'll get an alert email when new orders are created, or you can keep a browser window open and regularly check for new orders.

Am I limited to the number of menu items or number of orders placed?

No, there are no limits under this free offer, but 'fair use' applies and if you're impacting service levels for other users you'll need to move to a paid plan.

What happens after Level 3 Lockdown is over?

We'll be announcing plan options to continue using the system after lockdown, but there's no obligation for you to continue using it.

Is this only for Restaurants and Cafes?

The Synaps Commerce Platform is a flexible general business system and can handle a huge variety of businesses. But this offer is specifically for Restaurants, Cafes, Bakeries and other food outlets particularly affected during COVID-19 Lockdown.
